It is with deep grief and a broken heart, I regret to inform you of the earthly transition of the love of my LIFE, my husband, my friend and my heart, Bishop Willie James Campbell. We are hurting beyond belief but He assured us, It is well!

The family, St. James Ministries and I are broken and will need your prayers and love. Please allow ample time for processing this huge loss.

Bishop Willie James Campbell was a dynamic, energetic, and effective minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a highly qualified motivational speaker and was the Pastor of St. James Ministries – Church of God in Christ in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2009, Pastor Campbell was appointed by the Presiding Bishop, Charles E. Blake, and the General Board of the Church of God in Christ to the office of the President of the Department of Evangelism. Several years subsequent of this appointment, under that same presiding authority, he was recommended and promoted to the designation of Bishop.

With over 25 years of ministry as an evangelist and community leader, Bishop Campbell has been instrumental in providing support to community vitalization programs. He has focused his God-given talent to minister to the masses in an effort to strengthen and develop their spiritual relationship with God. Some of the featured support programs instituted under the leadership of Bishop Campbell, as well as some of his affiliations, are as follows:

  • Health Ministry: Annual community health screenings and referrals by licensed physicians

  • Neighborhood Canvassing: “Taking it to the Streets” Soul Winning Outreach

  • Spiritual Renewal: Church Retreat, Pre-Marital Counseling, Married Couples Retreat & Counseling, Singles Ministry, and Music Department Retreat

  • Support Services: Battered Women’s Shelter & Support Network, Hospital Visitation, and Youth Prevention Programs

  • Operation Pullman: Annual summer effort of feeding and clothing 150+ families from June-September in the West Pullman area

  • Prayer in the Ward: Hosting prayer on each corner of the ward, ranging from the months of June-October

  • Judah Fest: Annual outdoor ‘Back to School’ drive

  • Reintegration site for individuals that have endured hardships

  • Holiday family sponsorships

  • Church of God in Christ: President of the Department of Evangelism, member of the National Elders Council, National Expediter, member of the National Evangelism Department, District Superintendent, Jurisdictional Administrative Assistant, former member of the National Constitution Committee, and former Jurisdictional Sunday School Superintendent

  • Gospel Music Workshop of America Announcers Guild

  • NAACP, AARC and Chicago Urban League, Ministers Alliance of Chicago, Operation Push, and Save the Children Sponsor

Serving as a counselor to civil and religious leaders across the United States and beyond, Bishop Campbell has toured the world with his preaching ministry. He has been featured on the Word Network,, and many other Christian outreach programs. Additionally, he has been invited to speak for the following visionary and denominational leaders: Bishop Charles E. Blake, Bishop T. D. Jakes, Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop John Frances, Bishop Charles Ellis, the late Bishop G. E. Patterson, the late Bishop Wagner, and many more.


Bishop Campbell was a caring husband to his wife, Dr. Lori A. Campbell, and a devoted father to their children.

Bishop Campbell held firm to his conviction “All that I am and ever hope to be is Because of Calvary”.  To GOD be the GLORY!
