The Justice Journey Alliance, Leadership Foundation of Chicago (JJALFOC), invites you to the inaugural Imagine Justice Juneteenth Commemorative Walk on Thursday, June 19, 2025. This 2.5-mile walk begins at 31st Street Beach, proceeds north to 18th Street, and returns via the Lakefront Trail. The distance honors the 2.5-year delay in freedom reaching the last enslaved people in Texas following the Emancipation Proclamation. A portion of each registration supports the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Check-in: 7:30 AM | Walk Begins: 9:00 AM

On Wednesday, June 19th, at 9am, JJALFOC and organizations in Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and Tokoyo, Japan will complete the 2.5-mile walk. This event recognizes the 2.5 years it took for the news and enforcement of freedom to reach the enslaved people in Texas.

Walk Route: The walk will start at 31st Beach, head north to 18th St (Sledding Hill), and return to 31st St Beach.

Walk Registration: $35 per person
